rent roll automation

when we do something tedious and repetitive on our computers, we are wasting time… and if we do these tasks enough, we should be thinking about automation.

Rent roll cleanup… talk about perfect thing to automate. I’m happy to say that after a 40 hour time investment, I can clean up many rent rolls in a few seconds, versus the 1-2 hours it often takes my friend (a power excel user). There are still edge cases to handle, but I’m confident I’ll eventually get this to where I can take care of 90% of rent rolls without doing anything tedious.

There is other software out there that does something similar, like Red IQ. But for me, Red IQ failed to recognize a lot of the rent roll formats I came across. The advantage of writing my own software is that I can make a lot more assumptions and can cater my software exactly to what my underwriting model expects from a rent roll.
